Launch of KubePress: Open-Source Kubernetes Operator for WordPress
Hostzero announces the release of KubePress, an open-source Kubernetes operator designed to automate the deployment and management of WordPress sites at scale.
Hostzero today proudly announces the release of KubePress, an open-source Kubernetes operator designed to automate the deployment and management of WordPress sites at scale. Built by Hostzero engineers and published under an open-source license, KubePress makes running WordPress on Kubernetes significantly easier — for both developers and operations teams.
KubePress is a Kubernetes operator — a cloud-native tool that extends Kubernetes with application-specific automation. Operators leverage Kubernetes' own API to manage complex applications by automating both Day-1 (installation, configuration) and Day-2 (updates, backups, failover) operations. Operators act as controllers that reconcile the desired state described in custom resources with the actual state in the cluster.
Simplified WordPress Lifecycle
With KubePress, WordPress deployment becomes as simple as defining a Custom Resource. From there, the operator automatically:
- Provisions a highly available MariaDB database cluster using the MariaDB Operator
- Sets up PHPMyAdmin access for database management
- Provides SFTP access for file management per WordPress instance
- Handles TLS support for secure connections, using cert-manager or any compatible ClusterIssuer
- Allows customized resource configurations including database settings, replica counts, and storage sizes
This means that teams no longer need to manually orchestrate the underlying services and networking — the operator does it for them, driven by Kubernetes' declarative model.
Integrated with Corepanel for Hostzero Customers
Hostzero uses KubePress internally to manage WordPress hosting for customers through Corepanel, our customer center. This integration enables seamless provisioning, updates, backups, and lifecycle management of WordPress sites with minimal manual intervention from both customers and support staff.
Customers can now enjoy:
- Fast, reliable WordPress deployments on Kubernetes
- Consistent performance backed by Hostzero's professional support
- Self-service capabilities via Corepanel
This marks a significant step forward in enabling automated, scalable, Kubernetes-native WordPress hosting — empowering customers to focus on content and business value rather than infrastructure complexity.
Open-Source and Community-Driven
KubePress is fully open-source and available for anyone to use, contribute to, or extend. The project's source code and documentation provide a flexible foundation for teams that want Kubernetes-native WordPress deployment with modern automation patterns.
Hostzero invites the community to explore KubePress, contribute improvements, and use it as a building block for scalable WordPress platforms.
