Initial situation
Paying cloud prices for a virtual machine that never changes size
Most business workloads are not elastic. A database, an ERP, a build server or an internal application runs 24/7 on the same 4 or 8 cores — yet it is billed as if it might scale to a thousand. One m6i.xlarge in AWS Frankfurt (4 vCPU, 16 GB) costs $0.23 per hour on demand, or $167.90 per month before a single byte leaves the region (as of 2026). Add 200 GB of gp3 storage at $0.0952 per GB and 2 TB of outbound traffic at $0.09 per GB, and one modest VM lands at about $358 per month — roughly $4,300 per year — under US jurisdiction. The same VM on dedicated resources in a German data center is a fixed line item, with the engineer who runs the host one call away.
- Fixed monthly price — no per-hour metering, no egress line on the invoice
- German jurisdiction — Frankfurt DC on our own hardware, GDPR and NIS2 in mind
- Dedicated vCPU and RAM — no overcommitment, no noisy neighbours
- Open technology — KVM/QEMU and Ceph; export your VM image any time
The offer
What "Sovereign VPS" means at Hostzero
Own hardware in our Frankfurt data center — no reseller layer
Dedicated vCPU & RAM per VM, up to 256 GB
Ceph RBD storage — data replicated across nodes, not one disk
Isolated VLAN, 1× IPv4 and a /64 IPv6 network included
Engineers on call — the people who run the hosts
Why teams move their VMs to us
Performance You Can Plan With
KVM/QEMU virtual machines on high-end Intel hosts. vCPU and RAM are not overcommitted — the cores you order are yours at 3 a.m. under load, not only in the benchmark. Up to 256 GB RAM per VM.
Storage That Survives a Disk
Disks are Ceph RBD volumes on SSD or NVMe, replicated across nodes with an optional local cache. A failed drive or host is a Ceph event, not your outage — the VM keeps running.
Sovereign by Construction
Frankfurt data center, German company, own hardware. Each VPS sits in an isolated VLAN on a fully routed network with 1× IPv4 and a /64 IPv6 block included. GDPR- and ISO 27001-compliant operations, built with NIS2 obligations in mind.
Hyperscaler VM vs sovereign VPS — the honest comparison
| Criterion | Hyperscaler VM (AWS EC2 / Azure) | Hostzero Sovereign VPS |
|---|---|---|
Cost model | Per hour + storage + egress, billed by the GB | Fixed monthly price per VM |
Resources | vCPU is a hyper-thread on shared hosts; burstable tiers throttle | Dedicated vCPU and RAM, no overcommitment |
Elastic scaling | Seconds — autoscaling groups, effectively unlimited | Resize in hours, new hardware in days — not built for burst |
Managed services ecosystem | Hundreds — managed databases, queues, serverless | A VM. Bring your own stack, or ask us to run it |
Global regions | 30+ regions worldwide | One location: Frankfurt, Germany |
Data jurisdiction | US CLOUD Act applies to the provider | German law, German company, German data center |
Storage | Network block storage, per-GB and per-IOPS pricing | Ceph RBD on SSD/NVMe, replicated, included in the VM price |
Network | Public IPv4 billed per hour, egress per GB | 1× IPv4 + /64 IPv6 included, isolated VLAN |
Support | Ticket tiers, paid support plans | Direct engineer access |

Managed Operations
We run the operating system, not only the host: monitoring, security patching, backups with tested restores, 24/7 on-call with SLA. For teams that want a VM without a sysadmin. Price on request — also available for VMs you already run with us.

Which compute fits?
Not every workload belongs on a VPS
Stay on the hyperscaler
If your load swings tenfold between Monday and Black Friday, if your architecture leans on managed databases, queues and serverless, or if you need the same stack in three continents — the hyperscaler is the right tool, egress bill included. A VPS in Frankfurt will not autoscale, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Hostzero Sovereign VPS
When the workload is steady, the data must stay under German law, and the invoice should be a fixed number: databases, ERP and line-of-business apps, build and CI runners, VPN and jump hosts, system mail. Need dedicated hardware or a whole cluster instead? Look at our Managed Bare-Metal Colocation or Managed Proxmox.
Onboarding
From sizing to production — usually within days, not weeks
Sizing
vCPU, RAM, storage, network and OS — and whether a VPS is the right shape at all, or bare metal or a cluster fits better
Provisioning
VM built on dedicated resources in Frankfurt, VLAN and IPv4/IPv6 assigned, access handed over — same day once sized
Migration
Disk images from VMware, Hyper-V or a hyperscaler imported, or a fresh install with rsync — your current environment stays live until cutover
Operation
Host, storage and network run by us 24/7; the OS by you — or by us under Managed Operations with SLA
Why teams choose Hostzero for compute
We run virtual machines the way we run storage, mail and Kubernetes: on our own hardware in our Frankfurt data center, on open technology, for customers from a single VM to whole clusters — and for ourselves.
15+ Years Open Source
Enterprise open-source experience — network security on Juniper/Linux, SELinux, and production infrastructure we run for ourselves and our customers.
The Same Platform as Our Clusters
Your VPS runs on the KVM and Ceph stack behind our Managed Proxmox and Kubernetes offerings. Outgrow a VM and it moves into a cluster — no re-platforming.
Direct Engineer Access
No ticket tiers, no middlemen — you talk to the people who run the hosts your VM lives on.
